One of America’s top-rated thrill destinations – Wild Waves Theme Park in Federal Way, Washington – is set to close its doors for good at the end of the 2026 season.
American families and thrill seekers call it the end of an era!
Wild Waves Themes Park – featuring more than 30 rides and slides, including its signature Timber Hawk-Ride of Prey wooden coaster – officially opened in 1977. Originally launched as Enchanted Village, it has come a long way, becoming a landmark south of Seattle.
It announced the closure in December of 2025. Its president Kieran Burke said operating costs are too high. Heightened competition and larger, fancier and franchise parks are drawing a big share of customers.
“Unfortunately, the rising cost of ongoing operations since reopening after the COVID shutdown has generated millions in losses, which forces us to discontinue operations at the end of our 2026 season.
For Wild Waves Themes Park enthusiasts’, the closure will be a memorable one. All 30 rides and water slides will remain operational through November, and the park has rolled out a packed calendar of programming.
“The park will celebrate the memories, nostalgia, and family fun with themed events, and special promotions,” Burke said.
